clean通常需要用水。tidy指的是把东西整理好。

relation指的是政治上国家与国家之间的关系。指家人或朋友相处好坏用good／bad
relationship。
√ I have a good relation ship with my father．
我跟我父亲相处融洽。
× I've never met your sister-how is she?
询问How is she?时表明说话人与she相识。答案可以是She's fine/verywell．(她很好。)
询问不相识的人的特征应该这样来问：
√ ．．．what's she like?
…她长得什么样子?
× I enjoyed meeting your brother at the pady-he's very?sympatheic．
sympathetic指对别人的困境表示理解并予以同情。表示一个人和蔼可亲应用nice或 likeable。
√ ．．．he’s very nice．
我很高兴在聚会上跟你哥哥认识，他很不错。
× It takes a few days to know new people.
get to know(与人相识）是第一步，然后才有可能进一步know(了解)他们。
√ It takes a few days to get to know new people.
认识新朋友要花费几天的时间。
! Young Children are often frightening．
frightening、boring、tiring等词表示会引起某种特定的感觉，而frightened， bored,tired ……
